I am going to leave the ceiling tresses as they are, just painting them.

Thanks for sending the 2 photos. Of the 2 the black might be the way to go. It's approx. 2000 sq. feet so I will be seeing a large expanse of painted tresses. We will be having an electrician clean up and bundle the wiring.

Sounds like a plan. We were thinking of doing the same thing, but we are not sure. The size of our basement is similar to yours. The difference will be that we will have a bathroom there and a music room, which needs to be soundproof. I am not sure how it will look if we have the open space without a finished ceiling. I was inclined towards black ceiling as well. Post some photos when you are done.

I am geting ready to renovate our basement. Currently it has a large laundry/office room and a bedroom/storage area. There are no windows and we would like to put in a small bathroom, bedroom and office area. Additionally, we are going to buy a stackable washer/dryer unit and would like to conceal it. We are trying to figure out a way to create the effect of light in the bedroom and office area. Any ideas

You can't have a bedroom without windows

You could build a large closet for your laundry and even make space for a folding, sewing, craft area - maybe even a food down ironing board. just make it deeper than the usual closet and do folding doors.
