New house and the exterior needs help!!!

We love our new house at the beach but are at a complete loss for exterior paint colors. Should the brick be covered or painted? Is there any way to make the brown windows work?? It's so hard to find examples of this style home online, thanks in advance for all of your help!!

your house is a Ranch style home, probably started as a neo-Colonial with those multi-paned windows. as you can see on the left side of the front door, these houses emphasized the horizontal. the bay window sticks out in more ways than one, since it was added later to the garage/carport, and the window sills don't match the others.

could you tell us if the brick is real or just a thin veneer? and the white portion of the house - is it stucco or painted brick/block?

hopefully others will give some ideas, too. it's a tough design challenge! please start by tossing the mini shutters!!

I would paint the brick, it is not attractive.

If you paint the brick make sure to prep it properly. Prime it with Stix primer prior to painting it.

OMG! brick plus cinder block! And silly tiny shutters.

No need to paint the red brick. Before you paint at all, cover the cinder block in a simple board / batten. Dump the shutters. Remove five feet of driveway to the right of the door - it looks like that room used to be a garage.

Eventually, landscaping would help.

If possible, the first thing I'd do is remove the drive way to no garage and make a circular drive. Paint the entire house white, including the brick, then leave the windows the brown/black and paint the front door the brown/black too.

I'd also match the gutter over the garage conversion to the darker guttering over the rest of the house.
