Need help with sky lights.

I am building a new house & will have an artist's studio in the upstairs bonus room. The ceiling will be angeled to match the pitch of the roof. This will allow for a couple of North facing sky lights. Ideal light for painting. My question - has anyone had experience with sky lights, good & bad?

Hi, i have no direct experience with them but i know someone with one (pitch of roof is steep and he has no problems with it...it's the kind that does not open; no problems = no water leakage i mean.

I posted a similar question here on Houzz for i really really really like skylights, and others reminded me that leaves may accumulate on them, but your roof has a pitch whereas our roof has a meager pitch (flat though to the nake eye). While others suggested to me going with a solartube...which i will do because of amount of leaves we get in the fall

We have skylights at our house, no issues so far except how to keep them clean! ;)
