I would love to see the colors from your striped pillow in the drapes since everything is so neutral.

Color would be nice...maybe chartreuse? I have to say I get nervous going bold, but I would probably help balance the room.

Maybe a sheer color so it's not overwhelming?

I think if you pick a pattern you really love the boldness won't overwhelm you. If you go too conservative I think the room will not have the strong impact and put together look you are wanting. Just keep in mind the proportions of colors in the space. Predominately brown hardwoods and a neutral wall color. The bright colors here and there will definitely not over whelm the overall feeling.

Adding drapery on the windows may be difficult given the width of the walls nearer to the corner and balancing curtains so they work on narrow and wider walls without looking skimpy. Perhaps flat roman shades in a natural grass weave would give you lightness, balance and tie in to the natural fabrics and colors you have selected. [houzz=]

I really like picture number three from Rachel@Ethan Allen. I would pick one of the lighter blues from your palette for the windows.

Maureen you have a point. On the far left hand side of the window is the alarm and light switches. the curtains would cover those up. Don't know if that would be a good thing or a bad thing. Here are the items i have ordered for the room. maybe this might help in deciding the color for the window treatments

here is the rug as well.
