Brand new couches room needs color

Had colorful couches - happily upgraded. Want to leave wall color and drapes alone but it all looks too neutral need color. All other furniture and rug can be replaced or painted as funds allow etc....
Shall I put some contrasting vertical bands on drape? Get a large colorful rug or light colored comfy shag? What should next move be to brighten up the room

Lovely home! Your rooms focal point should be the beautiful windows and view and the existing curtains aren't making the most of that. They are a tad short and the rod pocket top makes them look too generic. Look at this photo of curtains with a white pole and curtain rings, this would give a more custom look. I like your idea of bands on the side as that would frame your windows.
Now how about a free update. Pull your rug under the sofas a bit so the legs are resting on rug, then chairs could be pulled in closer as well to create a nice grouping. Art behind chairs is too high, middle of art should be 55-60" off floor. I would remove circle ornament above TV too.

Paint the curtain rods black or dark brown and the coffee table to match the off-white trim.

Thanks for the feedback. The coffee table has a leather top but I could paint and distress the leather.

I tried dark rods and that was too many horizontal lines because of the window grids

I really like your room. I keep seeing bits of turquoise/peacock blue. The canvases on the wall, your throw, in the pillow. I think I would swap out the vase of flowers on the tray for a larger turquoise hurricane candle holder. Something with that pop of color and just a bit larger than what is there. There might be more opportunities accessories-wise to bring in a little color.

Thanks you are right, I love turquoise, teal etc. couches came yesterday and I'll be adding those colors but not sure with what objects yet. I need much larger and more art certainly

MarleneM, has the right ideas for you especially about the drapes. And btw, your room is great and those couches are to die for, very nice! Perhaps a band around your existing drapes, since you said you want to keep them, in the peacock blue and it could go around the bottom as well so they just touch the floor. I think that would bring in more color but otherwise I like the rods, they blend nicely.

One thing that bothers me is the tv makes the drapes look squished behind it. Any way the tv could just be on the cabinet instead of on the wall?

Loving the huge window, but not the mini drapes on it. It looks like your landscaping is providing privacy on that side. Could you go bare on that window?

Thanks Marlene M. I think curtain rings are an excellent idea and I like the photo that you sent. I had no curtains for many years and just added those because there are windows on 3 sides and at night in winter....this room is a black hole - 17 windows. It didn't bother me till all the kids were in college and people weren't here as often.

Hey Unwanted advice thank you for your kind words and your suggestions. I think the band on the bottom is a good idea! Maybe I'd try that before adding to the sides and see how it works. Long story on why the drapes got hung that way but the bottom band could solve length and color problems at once.

Beautiful room! To add length, perhaps the PB look of rings at the top.

Barrowp thank you for the window compliment. There are a lot of shrubs in back but also back there a sidewalk and cul de sac - in winter it's nice feeling completely anonymous when the drape is closed - custom made drapes were very out of reach. They were bare for 8 years - I do get that aesthically bare is a more sophisticated look. Thanks for the feedback

I would change out the pillows. Add more color and maybe geometric design or ikat.

I can relate to the dilemma of how to treat the big beautiful windows because I have them as well! I am currently relying on the landscaping and enjoying the view. I like your rug and love your sofas. I would l pull it all in tighter as Marlene suggests and go with the teal. New pillows could make a huge difference.
