Get a sheer white or cream curtain that is the length of your window and almost double its width for gathering. Install two small rods the width of your window; one at the top and the other at the bottom. Slide the curtain onto the rods and evenly space the gathers. You'll still be able to see if someone is at the door but they can't see you unless it's dark out and there's light inside.

What did you end up doing? We have blinds on ours. But I want a change. I’m thinking of maybe just frosting the glass.
