It's very traditional so I would incorporate small elements inside or outside the home but not decorate a whole space with wicker like in the photo above. I like to integrate modern pieces as well as more classic items when decorating a home

It is very much a personal choice when deciding on whether wicker furniture would work in your home. I think it is wonderful when someone is looking for a clean traditional look!

There are really so many types, looks and colors of wicker furniture, they can be mixed up with other types of furniture for interest. [houzz= houzz=]

Personally I like a little wicker BUT a guy friend who is 6'5" and beefy told me that he just cringes every time he sees it because he's afraid it will break - or at least groan noticeably - if he sits on it. I hadn't viewed it from that vantage point before, but I admit I get his point. I still like it, but I have other seating options for those who don't.

I like wicker because of its great personal design. It can transform a hokum room. But, since it has a unique style, it has to be carefully considered as to how it will relate to the other pieces in the room.

I don't really feel like wicker is very comfortable and tends to wear after awhile. Looks cute though!

I usually stay away from white wicker...but it does look so nice and fresh for this home!

The furniture in the photo is way too traditional (yes, and too matchy) for me. But wicker is only a material and can also be used for modern furniture.

I think the general term of "wicker" is used to describe almost any piece of woven grass/wood type furniture. There are some really fabulous pieces done in a variety of colors and textures. I'm thinking of some done by Padma's Plantation which work well in traditional or modern interiors/exteriors.

Those who have allergies to mold and dust mites should stay away. My allergist said to not have it because it's just too hard to get all the dust out (indoors) and will form mold where you can least get to it or see it. Banned natural baskets, too (but some I've sprayed coats of polyurethane on them and am hoping it works. Shame, because some newer styles I like (agree with not caring for "matchy matchy) and I love that I can easily pick up and sweep/vacuum under it. But I'm using easy to dust and clean lined furniture ... a bonus since I'm getting older and cleaning is not my favorite hobby.

I might like to have one or two pieces.

Yep, I take one look and think "cat scratching posts ... dog chew toys". It does look nice in some people's sunrooms and porches, though.

I inherited a wicker rocking chair from my grandmother...loads of wonderful memories. It survived a house fire and is now quite brittle, so it resides in our bedroom.

Love wicker furniture, and baskets. I use wicker baskets of all sizes as functional décor everywhere in my home.

I had wicker loved it, donated it to our church parish center and the women loved it for showers and meetings....however, because it was used by the public it only lasted about 3 or 4 years. I like the wicker look, but is now made of resin...It makes it waterproof and is so stronger than wicker.

I love the look of wicker but this space has way too many pieces. Should be mixed with other furniture.

I like to mix...had 2 chairs at small antique oval - drop leaf table in kitchen...an entire set was left to us when we bought our home and I'm enjoying it on the sun porch, also. I also, have a Peacock wicker chair...it all looks good together or separated.

At the cottage we had wicker inside and out although it was the modern version, not the natural fiber. We loved the nautical clean look with bright pillows and little upkeep. Now that we sold the cottage, we moved the 2 round tables with glass tops on the house patio with colorful placemats, contrasting napkins, and several sets of pillows and weather resistant.

I replaced the wicker in my cabin with oak.

All wicker room pics above look great, although i agree with Maureen...not everything has to be in wicker. For example, wicker chairs we have, but we don't have wicker end / coffee tables to matchy match..and a wicker size sofa ? No way

And yup makaloco, the stray cats that adopted us love wicker as scratching posts. I don't understand why they do. May be they like the sound of their claws as they pull away from it...just an idea of mine

The slightest touch of wicker i've ever owned they've systematically ripped to shreds.

I decided to say goodbye to the traditional upholstered club chairs in our LBK condo's living room and replace with large outdoor wicker(faux) ones. I Had the cushions done over for a more cushy comfy feel , 2 sets for each chair in off white denim slipcovers complete with longer zippers so it is easy to just throw the covers themselves into the washer and dryer when dirty.... The Look ,feel , comfort and wear imo was well worth it.. A Casual , very comfortable relaxed coastal feel that is easy to keep clean... and they are reinforced steel frames ....so no fears or trepidations for the big guys....

I like it for a traditional front porch (outside) but really only vintage and good quality wicker furniture is comfortable. I do not care for wicker IN the home, except maybe an enclosed porch or sunroom.

A resounding YES!! I love wicker. Whereby I mean furniture woven of natural materials like rattan, tibisiri, liana vine, etc. (– the term ‘wicker’ merely describes the weave and can be made of many materials.) I have lived in the Caribbean and in South America and had the opportunity to see how they made this furniture. There were items of supreme beauty, ingenuity, skill and style that I had not seen before or since, and I would give a lot to come by a set of such furniture now.
I love the fact that good quality wicker (made of liana vines like ‘Nibbi’ or ‘Kufa’) is natural, sustainable and renewable – it can stand heat and cold and is unbelievably light yet sturdy. For locating and harvesting the liana, the input(climbing skill and knowledge) of Amerindians is indispensable – giving them dignity and work. Further, harvesting vines makes for a less destructive use of the Tropical Rainforest as it makes harvesting lumber obsolete because the vines grow fast and need the towering, mature trees for support. Also, lighter equipment is needed to transport them. It is a fascinating form of furniture and where it comes to beauty @ Jenni Johns above veranda picture speaks for itself!

Today's wicker is so much more durable and pleasurable !

Well, I like the look but unless you have cushions along the back ( which sort of defeats the look ) I find they tend to get "pokey" over time. I have to admit, though, that there is something to them that makes me think of lazy afternoon, lounging on the porch.

When I was a teen, my first furniture that I picked-out and paid for myself was white cane-wicker. I took it to my first apt. I sold pieces off as I earned money.

Now? There's no way I'd have cane wicker inside the house--too Victorian or cutesy for my tastes now.

We have a new, modern wicker-set for dining outside and just sold a traditional-style outdoor set we had been given a few years ago. A young couple bought it and were thrilled, and so were we. It was comfortable and exceptionally well-made, but I prefer squares and rectangles. That furniture was all-rounded, the table was round and it was just too small for our needs anyway.

I also hated trying to find replacement cushions for it and was too busy to sew some. It's a lot easier to find square or rectangular cushions in stores.

The coyotes outside are going bonkers, lol.

While wicker can be pretty, especially with beautiful fabric covered cushions, it's not as comfortable as the chairs that I already have.
