Beautiful Home

Hi Mr. Benton - Your home is fantastic. I purchased a 1967 rambler almost a year ago and I'm preparing for a renovation. Your BEFORE pictures remind me very much of my home. A couple of questions 1) Is the overhang over the main door attached to the roof? The stud looks flushed to the roof. How do you manage the rain on this small overhang? My architect drew an overhang roof like yours in the plan but it actually inserts into the roof and becomes part of the foyer as a wood ceiling. It's a beautiful but this could be an alternative to save $$ and invest in other areas of the remodel. 2) Who's your window manufacturer - living room windows. Thank you- Cissy - Chantilly, VA

Thanks for the question. The front entry roof does not attach to the main roof. It did save us on cost by not having to touch the existing roof shingles or tie into the roof with structure. Also by having the porch roof slightly sloped toward the main roof rain water and snow melt is able to run between the separation and down the main roof to the gutter. Hope this answers your question and good luck with your renovation.
