We are building a new house in the caribbean which is on some land which looks almost due west over a canal and towards a sound. We can't orientate the house any other way really, but could move to possibly 250 degrees instead of 270 degrees. the west view is the best. We are looking for ideas for shading the main bedroom, one kids bedroom and two living areas which aren't intrusive. so far i've been looking at increasing the overhang of the roof and using aluminium and wood pergolas, but any other ingenious ideas welcome!
