Need help with landscaping behind pool for privacy

When we put our pool in seven years ago I designed it around the existing Holly's and wax myrtles that lined the fence. I was never crazy about the wax myrtles but they were large and gave us tremendous privacy and they disguised the ugly fence. The wax myrtles are no longer healthy and it is time to replace them. I was thinking of planting magnolias to form a tall evergreen headge. My yard would benefit from the larger leaves and dark foilage. Can this be done? Is there enough room? The space behind the pool is 7 feet deep x 32 feet wide from the fence edge to the holly's.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on varieties that would work. If you have photos please post. The pool is a salt pool which may limit the type of plant that will do well. The location is Dallas, Tx.
