Can you fit a tall dresser or lingerie chest in the room or maybe in the hall near the bedroom or bath? Small footprint but taking advantage of vertical space for more storage. Also, buy the hangers that have the loops to cascade another hanger from the one hanging on the closet rod, and then another loop on that hanger, etc., this can give you up to 3 times more space in your closet.They sell them on HSN in many colors. There's also the option of storing out of season clothes in air tight containers or bags under the bed.
Keep only the clothes and shoes that make you feel good when you're wearing them, and enjoy your retirement:).
