Are you going to replace the piano to a sofa?

Art work is fine, but I would paint the built in (all of it) the wall color. The white accents the small size compared to the rest of that wall.

Love the art as is and would let it stand alone without small items to distract from it on the mantle. Paint the BACK of the cabinets and the DOORS the wall color, but leave all the trim white like the rest of the room. The shelves need something larger with more presence, but it would be nice if these items could also stay.

Is the TV a must? We love the art though!

Agree with the puny art pieces. Gone. Will get picture hung centered right now. Hubby would die without a tv in the living room, lol.

The art is great. The problem is the cabinetry, as others noted, Your dilemma highlights the need for how contemporary architecture creates the potential for a lot of problems. Good luck w your paint job!

You might consider eliminating the cabinet altogether and mounting the TV on the wall. I painted it for you, first just the doors, then the whole thing. It doesn't exactly disappear and kind of disrupts the lines of your beautiful wall and fireplace.

I’m with grover, paint it all grey and lower art. You need something on the mantle, perhaps 1 large something narrow, vertical, perhaps brass or black. You might try the metal sculpture with the head to get an idea what you need.

Grover axle, thank you for painting!! That's awesome! I have considered taking it out and placing flat screen on wall. Think I might paint it first and go from there. Mostly due to wiring.
Karelina, have tried the sculpted head, but it just swallowed that too. It's really a big space.
If I don't take it out all together, have considered making it less deep and adding staggered glass shelving.
Will lower art some more. That makes sense now that it was recommended.
