We recently installed a pergola. There are no mature trees in our yard, so shade is dire during the summer.

I've ruled out vines since we plan on expanding the hardscaping. Instead, we're considering:

1. A company that offers individual Sunbrella awnings between the rafters that open and close manually.

2. A company that installs a continual Sunbrella fabric on top.

3. polycarbonate panels on top.

We live in the northeast so winter snow is a factor.

Anyone have personal experience with any of these options? Pros/cons? Hoping for feedback from pergola owners! Thanks so much.
