It's a fancy bowl....no pump.

Poor fish! What does it do all day? What does it look at? What a horrible place for the poor thing.

It's a disposable fish!

Disposable fish? or fake fish? Are there plastic or glass seperaters in the tank? Is fish (if not fake) able to swim thru the separaters?

THIS TANK SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR ANY SPECIES OF GOLDFISH. Goldfish are members of the karp family, and can grow very large - they need wide open spaces with excellent filtration, and life in a bowl fits neither of those requirements.

lorenzoba - It is a bowl, not an aquarium, so there is quite a bit more upkeep involved than would be with an aquarium. It requires weekly upkeep and monthly maintenance, but they certainly are cheaper. The main problem is the oxygenation of the bowl - fish breathe the oxygen in the water through their gills, as you know, and unfiltered water needs habitual changing to make sure the fish don't suffocate. Talk to your local pet store, or research online, to find out your options for oxygenation and water dechlorination, but overall, a tank/aquarium is better.

Molly Brown - if your new pet is not a goldfish, a small 'lobby plant' and a bit of 'carpet' gravel in a nice color would probably do the trick. Remember, fish (while the 3-second memory myth has been disproven) have simple brain activity, and their happiness comes mostly from clean water and just enough food. This tank looks most ideally suited to a beta fish, and they typically live in simple tanks with minimal to no decoration (to minimize fin tearing).

But again, fish tanks/aquariums are better for your fish in terms of health and temperment. Bowls like this, while pretty, aren't ideal for your fishy friends' chances at a long life - in fish years, anyway!
