Due to the height of your living room, I think flush mount ceiling lights are perfect. And clear and crystal light fixtures will match up with the solid colors of the objects.

I personally would not use a metal chair, or combine with a banana leaf type chair (which are very heavy). I recommend using cloth, which adds color and comfort to your room, with legs that match (as closely as possible) to the wood table). If you can't find a wood that matches, go totally opposite with a painted black leg, and use black in your accents (like curtains, cloths, table accessories, etc). I found this as a great example for you at worldmarket.com. Hope you like it.

As for the half wall where the gas logs are, if you like wine, you could use this for putting some wine storage and art work and a transition are to the dining room. Put a piece of local art work from a local artist, preferably of a vineyard or contemporary wine table scene, etc. I also would add a large wine holder that makes a statement about you or starts conversation among your guests. :) You could also add things like serving dishes on display (when not in use) that match the art work, decanters, silver ice bucket, etc. When entertaining add a cheese tray, etc. and turn it into a small bar area... of course, you'll have to watch how high you turn up the logs. You may even be able to add a wine glass rack to the ceiling..

Living room curtains could go a couple of ways... knowing you want to have "modern contemporary" I recommend either of the following -- a modernized valance with modern patterns, or curtains with or without blinds. Either way, you need to be mindful to raise the curtains above the window towards the ceiling. It makes the room look larger and the ceiling look higher. Here are some examples.

On the straight plain wall opposite the windows (I'm assuming), consider putting a desk with a chandelier hanging over. You need more lighting other than track light. I also recommend a desk that the chair can be used for seating in the room, if needed. In some of these examples I've found, there are chairs on both sides, which is great for using in this instance. Also, I don't recommend pushing a desk up against a wall and facing towards the wall when working, unless space is limiting you. I've tried to provide some examples that will allow you to work around this. It's good to mix metal and wood --- just keep this in mind, so your home doesn't get to looking too much like a hospital! LOL

If you place a 3d rectangle behind tv, at its bottom you could have them install a shelf extending all across that rectangle for 1 or more huge accessories to liven it up: silver, yellow, capiz shell, etc. and shine in the light too.
As one post-er mentioned that your tv could be lowered [it can't you said], this shelf display would fill that bottom area.

Also, there is absolutely no way to balance that TV wall with vases. It will look exactly like you tried to "fill up the space" instead of a conscious design decision. I know you have worked hard and spent beaucoup bucks transforming this place. Go the extra step and lower the TV, even if you have to set it on the cabinet and patch the wall.

Pierre, You do NOT need to move the TV or the floating shelf, IMO. You could do quite a few things with this wall to make it brilliant! You could paint the whole wall an accent color or just the center strip of the wall around the TV about 2 -3 feet out of the perimeter, depending on what makes sense with which strategy you plan to go with. By strategy, I mean decorating with decorating by filling out the wall with floating shelves or floating shelves and pictures (or other abstract wall art). I have provided some attachments to show you how to visualize.

Lots of dark what with table and fp, so I thought lighter chairs unless colored area rug. Black fireplace is right next and that's to consider. Not sure even bright art would help a big blob of dark wood - another unless - dark chairs would be shiny??!! So much dark wood to me might look so traditional even with modern lines.

Pierre, You do not need to use wood chairs with a wood table. I liked the metal legged modern chairs that Darzy first picked as they looked great with your metal fan light above the table. It was a nice contrast from the heavy wood to the gentle lines of the chairs.

Okay, Pierre, I like the blue eye girl canvas and it has great color. Now you need to get serious if you want our help. The Montclare Ivory leather with metal legs will go the best with your heavy wood table. You think you want to pay $5400 for a living room chair? You are looking at a designer chair. You can get used original Barcelona chairs for much less, and yes it would be spectacular in the room. Buy black if you get it. You need to get very serious and bring in color to the space. Other than the blue-eyed-girl I see no color.

What is next, Pierre, should be the foundation of any room: area rugs. Do not buy matching rugs. If you want to invest money this is where you should do it. Go to an upscale rug dealer and ask them to suggest the proper sizes & styles for your rooms. They will deliver for you to try in your space. Pick oriental (Persian) rugs that are high quality made of wool or wool & silk. Choose similar colorways but not the same.

Bigger is better. After you make your decision on the rugs and have them in your rooms. . The dining chairs must be able to be on the rug when they are moved out. I would say 3-4 feet beyond where a chair might be moved. In living room, The front legs of the sofa should fit on the rug & I would get one big enough to place all major pieces of furniture on it.

As for the wooden legged chairs you were considering, they are too traditional for your existing furniture. The Montclare ivory leather chair or even a set of Ghost chairs (which are clear acrylic). Pick your accessories last. I suggest an acid yellow pillow for the sofa as well as Royal blue and Red Red as in your blue-eyed-girl painting.

Then as you live with these major pieces, gradually add things to the rooms. Decide on window coverings (suggest white linen hung as high to the ceiling as possible. Don't puddle on the floor. Be sure to add books and living plants as they are one of the most personal items, letting your guests know who you are.
