Is a lamp essential? No ceiling fixture? I ask because I have a basket of dried hydrangeas with a strand of tiny LED lights inside the basket. Battery operated on a schedule. Really a nice touch in the evenings.

Mercury glass is pretty but I think it might be too much shine bc of the mirror and the metal frame around it.

Perhaps you can consider using a lamp that is refashioned from a vase or an urn. There are a lot of great vases that have great designs that can give a bit of life to a lamp. A few examples we have on our site of different lamps that have been refashioned from other pieces:

Your chances of disguising the switches and other thing are slim with a lamp. You could install a ceiling light and place a dried bouquet that would cover the switch plates and be easier to turn on and off.

In addition, the cute chest needs to be moved closer to the left side in order to have enough room for a lamp - if you do not move the chest, the lamp will look as though it is going to fall off. A fanned-our bunch of dried grasses or a branch is able to do what you visualize.

A buffet lamp on the right, layered in front of the mirror would also work. Maybe an old-looking iron base to match your pulls would work. Add something lower between like an old wooden bowl or basket to catch keys or filled with wrapped candy.

An antique toy, a cleaned up bird nest, a few old small books . . by the sounds of it, you could shop your house and find many things?

I had the same issue with wanting to hide the light switch. a tall vase did the job.
