Edge of cabinet. But you will need a side finishing piece at the end of the backsplash so the border looks finished.

Edge of the counter. The concept was to protect the wall from splashes so it would be more logical to cover where ever splashes might occur. Ending at the cabinet looks unfinished in my opinion.

I had the same dilemma. But I had plugs to deal with too. This is what I came up with. I'm no pro but I like it. My backsplash tiles are much different than yours, however. Good luck

Go to the end of the counter and then extend the tile up along the cabinet by about 3-4 inches. (As long as you will be able to open the cabinet!) I have basically the same counters and backsplash and had the same dilemma. Looks great now!

This is exactly why a backsplash isn't always a good choice. Your kitchen would look better without any backsplash. I would also remove the 4" backsplash made of counter material esp. if you're going ahead with a tile bs.

You already have a back splash. Change your wall color to something less matchy matchy.

One other piece of advice...choose a backsplash that isn't so busy. Your counters have a lot going on and a busy bs is going to be just too much. Caymanbaby's choice is much more tasteful.

Any of these might look great with your counters and not be too much with granite.

Technically, the tiles you've pictured above "match" but they won't look good.

Brian, I still would like you to reconsider. You have a back splash as is. Why not start with the glass tile over the stove and up under the microwave first and see how that looks?

Or, add one more cabinet at the end so that the tile will have something above it. Tile needs a reason to be there.

Hi---I recommend removing the 4" counter return before installing a backsplash. As for where it should end---bring it beyond the cabs to the edge of the counter and carry it straight up to the ceiling---might look better installed vertical rather than horizontal. I too, think you should consider a different backsplash---that one has too much contrast, which you already have plenty between your counter, wall color, and cabinets... Pics for inspiration.
