Definately! If you do allot of cooking they are more comfortable to stand on because wood is naturally softer then tile. The harder the floor the harder on the knees, feet, etc.. Wood floors are beautiful most anywhere.

How about water? Wood+ water is a pain, or not?

I love wood for kitchen floors. They are easier on the feet and can be damp moped. Of course, you don't want to let water stand on the floor or water potted plants on them. I also like the continuity that comes from having the wood floor flow from room to room.

I absolutely love the wood island countertop. I am considering a wood island for our new kitchen but am concerned about how it will wear over time. I know that marine oil helps protect it but with two young kids am I crazy to consider a wood island countertop?
