Don;t do that!!! Take it down and replace it with something much better than creme...the problem with mixing creme and white often times, they clash or one of the colors seems off and or dirty...so you have not created contrast....That is what you are missing here...a good clean contrast! Choose something with color...

Short of replacing the whole backsplash, you could have the insert above the cooktop replaced with a white tile and frame. That would create a contrast. But I agree, don't paint it! Just bite the bullet and replace it.

I wouldn't paint it either. I would live with it for awhile. It looks like it goes well with your counter. Once the contractor has his crap out of the way and you start styling that space, you may come to like it after all.

Those are beautiful cabinets, BTW. The understated counter and backsplash makes them the prime focus. That's a good thing.

A bigger issue is the cabinetry/vent cover above the cooktop. It looks way too low. There are code requirements for clearance above the cooktop. Is the photo stretched or distorted?

I think the opening is around 5 foot above. The ceilings are high. The image is somewhat distorted.

Okay that second view looks a lot less tan. Very pretty. Undercabinet lighting will brighten the color, too. I like your kitchen a lot. It's going to be gorgeous.

No, the clearance requirement is from the cooktop to the BOTTOM of the cabinetry above it.

I think clearance should be 30 inches between the cooktop and lowest combustible material, which would be the very bottom of the curved mantle area. :)

All that cool brick I would have done a colored splash .. the white is really all washed out and it needs contrast.

Love the spa blue in the golf club renovation. But it really depends on what you will have in adjacent rooms.
