Great room. Are there colors you like that you would like to incorporate?

U can try two of the combination
First is orange sofa with orange and cream color curtains with cream color lace
Second combination is dark chocolate sofa with dark brown and golden curtain combination attaching photo for that

U can change sofa to orange color and can use curtains of orange and cream colored
Add few pictures with orange and red color combination that will bring charm and freshness to your living room

I just googled room colors for antique furniture, looked at the images, and there were really great rooms. If you are going for very formal, the metallic brocades, with gray walls were gorgeous. If you are going for something a little sunnier, the robin's egg blue walls with white lace curtains were very cheery. The fabric could then be striped, and then multiple colors can be added with pillows.

I would paint the walls cream color and redo the sofa in an old gold color. for windows, consider cream sheers with burgundy curtain panels. valance is really not needed.

If you are planning on keeping the sofa and drapes, you could match the grey silver in the drapes to the wall paint.
Also 3 mid size framed prints with bright silver frames with detailed texture, above the sofa. Maybe with antique floral prints or sepia toned images to tie in with the antique carvings on the sofa.

I think you need either a much bigger square coffee table of two 'interesting' smaller coffee tables in front of each sofa.

I agree with the blue velvet idea for both couches - right now, they look tired and fussy (and old and maybe dirty, even though I'm sure they are not!) A beautiful refurbishment may be just what they need. You could even go "funky" to counter the staid-ness of the style of the couches, with a linen with cut-away velvet polka dots or something fun.

The wall color looks sad and is sucking up the light while adding no drama - I would say to either lighten up the room with lighter shades (maybe yellow, eggshell or light grey) or go all dark with a rich jewel color. Have fun!!

Most of all, the coffee table needs to go and be replaced with something updated or more interesting.

I actually don't mind your drapes - looks like they are well-crafted and nice colors, and would give that "done" look to a room where the other elements right now are drab. For me, they're not the problem.

The room looks dark. I would remove the window treatment completely and replace with a white sheer or transparent white blind. The room does not look large so the window treatment should be minimal. The furniture is not my taste but it is yours and you want to keep it. I suggest reupholstering is a light chintz cotton. Perhaps a light yellow color with some pops of color. I would remove the rug particularly if there are hardwood floors underneath. For the walls, I would paint the palest of yellows, essentially white with just a hint of yellow. Add mirrors and plants.

I think you should remove the heavy valance, perhaps make pillows using them. Remove the rug, it is very heavy and does nothing. Make the drapes panels, unless you need the privacy. A mirror would reflect light. Replace the coffee table with a large square or round glass with bronze legs, that would bring more light to the room, also. If you keep the coffee table,edit it way down. The room just looks very tired. If you can afford a decorator for the day, get one, take good notes, it would be worth it.

I think the. formal vouch should be a bold stripe in maybe rust nd cream, with small stripes in green and/or. brown. Use cream, rust, green etc pillows. .a cream color for drapery panels with rust and gold sheets.
Love seat could be solid rust with cream pillows.
wall color perhaps creamy taupe.

This all depends on your style ie. what colors make you smile and what feel you want for the room. To most of us this feels very dark and heavy but perhaps that's what you're going for. Things to consider: Keep your larger pieces of furniture very neutral and get your personality and pop in your throw pillows, rug, and a fabulous piece of artwork over the sofa. If you want simple and streamline, go for a square coffee table, simplified curtains, lighter walls, and don't forget your lighting (floor lamps & table top lamps) are critical to the ambiance.

I would keep one of the sofas as they are similar and take up a lot of room. Place a few contemporary chairs, table, rug and curtain with it. Neutral colors are best for walls and coverings, except for one chair and pillows to match for the sofa.

I agree with LM Designs for the most part. However, I don't know where you live, or anything else about what you like, you just want a change. This is a personal idea, if I had that room, the sofa under the window is screaming Old Hollywood Regency.......I would recover it in a bold color, remove the smaller looking other sofa, add two mid-century chairs and a simple rug, move the sofa away from the window and buy simple drapes, let some light in. I always say look here on Houzz for Idea's, and I say that again. This site has more beautiful rooms than any place else I could send you. Look for inspiration here, you will find it. I don't really think orange is a good choice for that room. I like the idea. I like a neutral creamy for walls and then add the persons favorite colors for furniture and decorative pillows, candles and pictures to tie it all together.

It really depends on what you want to live with for the next 10 to 15 years.
So, if it were me, I would start with updated curtains in colors that give you options. Like the Palampore below.
Then move the loveseat out to another room. It is too much big fussy furniture for one room of this size. Consider two smaller chairs and a small table across from the sofa.
Move the sofa away from the window to let in more light.
Then, using a color from what ever curtains you choose, get the sofa reupholstered. A soft grey, blue or an olive green would wear well. Then look at paining the walls a complementary color, to lighten the room a bit (making it seem larger) and pull it all together.

I think you should do a country French pattern on one and a solid color to accent the country French pattern, you should have more light coming in...have you contemplated doing a balloon curtain, with the honeycomb blinds (get the ones with a picture scene on it)

You could go one solid color on the chairs and the other a stripe;, or stripe and country French or country French , solid chair. You choose which stripe you would put up with longest and you choose which curtain would suit you...and some accent pieces over the window

Leave everything but paint or paper the walls. You have a wonderful Victorian room. Look at wallpapers that look like William Morris flowers and other patterns. He was a very famous British designer and his wall paper designs are classics for your period room. You could have very colorful wall paper. That goes well with your neutral furniture. Do not change the furniture.

Love the furniture, but because it is so "heavy" I think you need to go light and airy with the rest of the room....personally would enjoy seeing something in floral or botanicals...good luck and have fun!

I think right now the hollywood glam theme is a bit overpowering. The sofas are gorgeous shape... Keep them and make everything else neutral. Wall color maybe bm manchester tan or some other rich cream. Drapes sheer or a white/taupe bold chevron. Smaller contemporary rug. An oval or round brass/glass coffee table or tufted ottoman with a tray. Some mirrors with brass border (baroque type) in moderation might look great too.

this room is crying out for light. I totally concur with Linda Moore and Deborah Perugi. Unblock the window for more light, choose one sofa and add two chairs with small side table in between. Chose one color from the sofa redo for the chairs. For the drapes consider a color close to your wall color. Keep the drapes simple + remove bric a brac Try to put a very narrow shelf or narrow sofa table behind the sofa, on which you can place a long rectangular painting or several posters for cultural events or something funny which will evoke conversation. A mirror placed opposite the window will reflect more light into the room and accent lights will give a relaxing glow and a different look. Use lighter tones of the colors you love most. I enjoy rooms done in grey and mirrors but i can't live with them. I begin feeling morose. Good luck and please show us the results.
