Rustic Family Room

Why are some questions answered, and some are not?? Are not room dimensions or wood type legitimate questions to ask??

Hi Supayne. That's a great question. The reality of it is that we get hundreds of questions per week, and it is virtually impossible to answer all of them. I always joke that we need to hire someone just to answer Houzz questions :-)

Joking aside, dimension questions, in particular, are the hardest questions to answer because the answer is typically not readily available off the tops of our heads. Many of the projects you see on Houzz were completed 3, 5, and maybe even 10 years ago. We are a high-end custom home builder and remodeler. We've never done the same project twice, and we do not re-use plans. When a project has been completed for some time, we put the blueprints in our archives. Therefore, answers to questions pertaining to dimension are not simply sitting at our fingertips.

This particular project was completed in 2011. This morning, I went to our archives and pulled all of the files for you. Here is all the information you'll ever need to know about this room:

Flooring: Reclaimed Antique White Oak with a custom stain.
Ceiling: Alder, stained, glazed, and distressed.
Cabinetry: Alder, stained, glazed, and distressed.
    Mantle: Reclaimed timber.
    Stone Fireplace Surround: Rico Chopped
    Family Room Dimensions: 22 x 26'

I hope you have a fantastic rest of your week and weekend. Take care!

Gentlemen: Thank you for an enlightening reply. We laymen forget the pro's point of view in a business project. In a public forum we readers often ask questions when we admire a published "work of art". We hope our own home projects, be they may of limited budget and concept, are enhanced by great ideas and quality visuals.

With your online followers numbering in the thousands, perhaps hiring a part-time PR person would be an excellent move!! It would free up your time answering questions like mine!! Thanks again!! Supayne

I have long-admired this rustic, yet modern great room and hope to recreate the feel of it in my own family room. I am; however, even more enticed by the mention of John Kraemer & Sons' need for an online PR representative. Should this idea become realized, please allow me the opportunity, as I have well over 10 years PR experience through the Army and a private firm.
