Aqua-blue i.e. the same color as your pool looks GREAT with tropical foliage. Wow what a color - tailor made! White trim. A darker tone of the same color for the front door. Enjoy. We look forward to seeing pics whatever you decide to do.

is that stain behind bushes from well water sprinklers? have sprinkler heads adjusted so not hit house or will ruin new paint. love coral idea.

Bm carribbean coral is what I keep going back to , it's just a but too hard and red. Like the idea of coral... try a nice white metal or tile roof,no black.

Look at Sherwin William's corals. They have some good colors, not too pink or red.

I would go with a white or off white, than add your color in the form of pots or add a pop of color for your front door!

HI -- If you still like the idea of a coral , then a dark coral would be nice . Or a creamy tan or a color close to the roof color . I think a charcoal / grey or a tan could be for the roof edge and then a dark coral for the front door . With white you could go several ways , all depends on the roof color .

I am all for the white exterior...cool and cooling. Add the coral to the front door.

IMO, shutters should not be added to the house.

Here's a Sherwin Williams "read" on your colors that may help you find a direction. I think the screen door you showed is a bit too Victorian for your home's style.

I've got to agree with the opinion of white group....no shutters ( windows not in keeping), change the front door color at will...it is only a quart of paint and a morning's work! . Replace screen door with simple full view door screen.. And, please, no etching design of glass for front door. If you want more light yet want privacy, get opaque glass. Too much "Florida" style going on.. Home looks to be more "mid-century" ... Keep the design simple, ....Stand out in the crowd!

I have to agree with the White color suggestion for the ranch style home. Make it a Medditerainian style home with white, barn red door and clay pots with plants. Also remove the screen door it takes away from the style of the home, not to great curb appeal. As for the rusted walls, you should treat the water tank for sprinklers with a chemical. Many companies come out every month for very affordable fee and they take care of the problem and keep the areas clean, if you don't do it it will come back on any color you paint your house. Based on my experience, I live in Florida. Good Luck

While I initially thought white too ans you have so much green foliage, I don't think it will work. You will end up with a white box. You need to figure out a way to bring some architectural interest to the facade. Like bump out a small porch, add some stucco banding or stonework to break it up, then you can use more than one color. It looks like your shingles are brown so you need to factor that in as well as the color of the soffets and gutters.

Better Homes and Gardens website actually has section where you can "try out" different colors on both inside rooms and exteriors of houses, so can get an idea of what you prefer...I believe Sherwin Williams does too!!

I have read that there is a lot a coral houses in South Florida. In my neighborhood there is a ton of white ,yellow ,light blue ,light green and peach. There is no coral like I'm thinking! See pic... Sw Carribean coral

I have nothing against white. In fact the entire interior of our place in south FL is mostly white. However, to suggest that white is somehow a more unique or interesting color choice than coral is absurd. There may be many coral houses (along with every other colour)… but there are tons of white houses. And frankly a 50's style home such as this one looks much more interesting and suited to color, than to all white.

Try a shade of jungle green with Bahama shutters and door in a rust and let the house blend in with the foliage as if part of it. Lose the Victorian screen door and go for one in keeping with the style of the house.

I also live in South Florida. I've been seeing a lot of deep orange houses, but I adore classic coral, which is more orange than pink. With white, not black.

That coral pamelafisk posted would be great for the door and/or Bermuda shutters, but on the entire house, it would hurt your eyes. Try a white house with the bright shutters. These vibrant blue ones are comparable to that bright coral. When budget allows, a white tile roof would look great!

You could consider a pale coral with turquoise shutters and white trim.

A more orange shade of coral like the example above would look great on your house. No shutters, it's too traditional for a mid mod ranch style.

Go with Benjamin Moore pumpkin cream. Remake of an old eichler color. White trim with a turquoise door. It will be different than all the other coral houses in south Florida and give good contrast to all the lush green vegetation you have.

You're backyard is stunning - I would like to transport it to my yard here in California! Your house would look great in white and the SW Caribbean Coral you keep refering back to and seem to love would be fantastic to use on either the front door or on shutters (consult an architect for appropriate size). If you are going for a conch cottage look I would definitely do something around the windows in terms of shutters. The color will really pop against the white and it doesn't matter what the rest of the neighborhood looks like since your home will stand out on its own. I would like to add two other thoughts: one, I think your front door walkway needs to be a little larger/wider and maybe use some used brick or what you used in the backyard. The front door area needs to stand out (again, ask an architect for thoughts). Secondly, the back of your house seems to beg for a french door (and maybe some larger windows if possible) to look out to that gorgeous yard. Is there somewhere that would be appropriate in your home to add the doors? If so, do that before you paint the outside of your house.

Since you live in FL., I think going all out with a beautiful Flamingo color on the exterior.

If you're concerned about a white house getting dirty too quickly I would suggest making sure the type of paint you use will allow you to wash down your house periodlcally so you can keep it clean.

You might get away with these shutters on your smaller windows. They are really just awnings and probably don't close.

@DecoratingJoy.... The front walkway is ridiculously narrow!!!! We know & it's on the "list" . It's funny how i've grown to like the quirkiness of it though. As far as the Bacchos. Thank you for the compliment. It's even prettier in person and we practically live out there now. That one window is actually very, very large going to the living room. Once painted we have a huge large screen TV going on one of the walls wall . We have talked about adding French doors ,but that would also mean expanding my bedroom ,turning a bath into into a cabana bath yada yada yada ..you know how it goes $$$ Def on our long-term list .also.

LOVE the idea of white on house - then your options for shutters and door are endless. Keep black shutter and do a Dark Coral on door so you still get your Coral. Plus its easier to change your door color if you ever get tired of it. Otherwise I would also consider a grayish white on house just for some color. Maybe a more Modern take than you are interested in. Good Luck !!!

I think you need to keep the shutters. Don't you get some BIG WEATHER down there? Safety first!

Drive around your area, or walk the neighborhoods and see what colors strike you. Sometimes it is easier to see what you like on someone else's house where you aren't emotionally invested. If you find a coral you like, go up with paint chips and ask the owner if they know what they used or if you can compare paint chips to see if yours are close. What about an almost pumpkin orange, like a fiery sunset? Good luck!

@jh77. I have been doing that, no lie for two years. Ha I actually did do that and that's how I came up with the Caribbean coral. It just seems so much darker at my house for some reason. I don't know why I'm hesitating

I just revisited your questions and, once again I am drawn into you back yard that is so inviting... The color of your chaises combined with the soft and pale blue pillows are wonderful. So, I now think that if it were my home (I wish!), I'd paint the body of the home a soft taupe shade similar to chaises, crisp white trim and that gorgeous blue front door! If when done you think 'more' is needed, paint the shutters and see if you still think you need them. ( I would still purchase a full view high quality screen door though.... Present one just doesn't work). Your storm can be painted that yummy blue, then hang the full-view screen door that generally come in white. That may accentuate the blue door nicely. If not, paint screen door to match. Hope this gives you food for thought.

Oh, then you can make coral be the 'jewelry' at you home... Both front and back! Ie., coral pool towels etc.

Sorry if this has already been addressed...PLEASE paint a few large pieces of wood the colors you are thinking about....place them around the exterior (I like to have 2 boards of each color) so I can place the same color in corners and around corners. Wait...watch...keep out at all times off day and type of weather....start eliminating what you don't want and continue the process.
Painting stucco is an expensive proposition...take your time please!!
Also remember that outside colors can only be true if viewed solely outside. The sunlight is a huge factor...especially in Florida.
Please keep us abreast of what you do end up with on your lovely home....I am disappointed when we don't get to see the end decision.

I think the body of the house would look fresh and interesting in Benjamin Moore's Weston Flax and Hale Navy on the front door. I wouldn't add shutters as they'd be purely decorative and wouldn't suit the style.
