Corner Lot Landscaping

I just went to the nursery and purchased a tree and some plants for my front yard but now I am beginning to question what I purchased. I bought large fruitless mulberry and three ornamental grasses for the corner. I want to know what you think. I live in So Cal and a very windy area. My neighbor suggested that I co a half circle like a have where the palm tree is on the other side of my yard. Would love your opinions as you have been so helpful before.

I know this is late but I think a mulberry is a nice largish leafy tree and the location you suggested is fine. It will give it plenty of room to grow.

I have my new tree in the yard and changed things around in the corner. Now I have had all the plants pulled out underneath my window and got an excellent deal on some fake rocks. My house faces north so it's pretty shady underneath the two front windows all day. I have approximately four fee in front of the windows for plants but don't know what to do. I don't want to do something and have to do it over. Need ideas. First photo after new tree put in. Bottom photos is what I have now.
