@keado: Yes, the door seems to open the wrong direction; however, changing it would put the switches on the wrong side of the door which isn't usually too difficult to change. As previously suggested, add a built-in cabinet under the window to the right of the door with cubbies for boots and shoes. Add a shelf over the hooks to the right of your door and put baskets on it for gloves, scarves, etc.
