well lets start with knowing what you have to put in it...couch and chairs, sectional, dining table size? why does it look like there are two spaces for a table?

I don't know why the room was designed this way, and yes there are two spaces for a table. Some people with this layout have made two sitting areas..

What I have done is under "family rooms".......the gray sofa, chair and charcoal gray rug with large ottoman as a coffee table............any ideas would be helpful, we are planning on plantation shutters for doors leading to a lanai and pool.

It looks like a hutch or a beverage center would go well in one of the areas where it looks like there should be seating for a table

If you go my ideas under family rooms you will see my furniture (gray and beige with large ottoman coffee table.

well you have great stuff, and two tables! i would think to turn one table into a large desk on the left side of the room. put the tv on the long wall, couch floating facing, chair on either side much like you have now, but you need a larger rug. get a console table for behind the couch. put the small rug under the dining table. long mirror on wall that is slanted by left door.

great ideas...........thanks! The room is narrow and the couch backs up to the granite counter with just enough room behind it to walk through. I will get a larger rug and I already have a long mirror hanging on that wall. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Okay, here are the pictures, anything I should do differently?

have the light fixture over the cherry table by the entry swagged over so it is actually over the table. both dining room fixtures are out of place. the one over the black table is much too high. a longer tv console table, and some more art around the tv. move the chairs so the are to the left and right of the ottoman facing in toward the tv or staight at each other. get a much larger rug . the longer console and larger rug will help balance the long wall. i would consider paint all your walls a light gray color, and flank the large sliders with curtains. you could do shelves on either side of the tv too. you also need some plant life!

flair lighting, what program did you use to add the features in this room?
