Parking Pad Creativity

last modified: 11 years ago
Thanks for reading my post. Here's my dilemma. We share a driveway with our neighbors and would really like to be able to get our cars in / out without having to back one out first. There is no option other than to create a parking pad in front of the house (assuming the kind folks at the City of Charlotte, NC will even allow it - that's been difficult to figure out too). We just did a major renovation so we don't have a yard yet so now is the right time to do this. I really don't want cement, I was thinking more of a brown packed pebble or drivable grass or something. We cannot widen the street entry to our driveway so it would have to be something we pull into the driveway then veer right onto it. To the right of the driveway in that mulched area we have planted three smoke trees but some / all could easily be moved.

To give you a sense of scale...
Existing shared driveway width = 18'
End of driveway to the front door entry path = 43'
Edge of driveway to the closest front porch pillar = 23'

We're also completely wide open ideas for the front landscaping as well.
Thoughts?
Thanks again....
