What to do with back of a row of kitchen cabinets that hang from the c

What can I do with the backside of these cabinets. Clearly, the Turkish rug is outdated. These cabinets are circa 1980s. We are planning to move within 2 years and did not want to invest in replacing them. We have however, added granite countertops and new hardware. Looking to spruce it up to sell. Ideas please. Thanks so much!

How about a 3 or 4" deep shelf spanning the length. You can display some platters and framed mirrors.

The space will be so much prettier without the hanging cabinets. Remove them entirely.

I agree the space would be so much better without the cabinets. However, the OP stated she wanted to work around them not remove them - perhaps the storage is needed.

Short pendant lights could be wired into the existing supports too if they were removed.
