Your floors are beautiful. This looks like such a cozy space. I would paint the wood around the fireplace either white or black...both will make it pop. I guess the choice depends on your taste and how much light is in the room. As for a rug, I think you are definitely in need of a new one. I would look for a sophisticated pattern with no more than two or three colors that would blend nicely with the fireplace color. Then pop some color all around. As for the mantel, add a large piece of art and then build around that...maybe add a lamp or candlesticks along with something with texture. If you have Pinterest, I'm sure you can search mantels and find something you love. Good luck and happy decorating!
