A grandfather clock belongs in a foyer or hallway. The room is gloomy. Get a proper couch. The scale if off everywhere. You need to put happiness in this room.

What a beautiful space! Lovely moulding and floors, and your have some nice quality prices in there. Lighting from the ceiling on older homes is tricky in older homes with a second story, which looks like you have. If you can go to a local lighting store and get a consultation it would be worth it. Other decor thoughts: the bookcase is the same height as piano--I'd take out bookcase so the the piano (moved to former bookcase spot) becomes the star of the space. Larger rugs in both spaces or one super big one will bring warmth to the room/s. Look up a buying guide because scale will be important here--these rugs will define the space/s. as for color, the tree art you have on the wall there is lovely and The colors within it could be your jumping off point. You have a great space to work with. I only have a couple of quick suggestions. I'd swap the piano and bookcase around. I see that the piano is currently placed in front of a heat vent which is problematic as heat dries out and blows dust into the interior of your instrument. That and if you swap them you will be able to take advantage of the natural light of your window. Also, turn your rug in that area 90 degrees. It's current location is blocking the natural flow of the room. You may also wish to get a bigger rug for that area anyway. I'd move the rocking chair to another room.

I can go into all of the reasons for these moves if you like - but then this post is like novel length.

Of course - yet other option! Move the piano to where the bookcase is. Move the bookcase over to where the chest is [next to the window] and the chest to where the piano was. Maybe hang a mirror over the chest and add your Tiffany lamp in it. Add the cute chair to this new wall next to the chest. Remove the rocker for now.

If you want 2 chairs by the piano, you need to get a pair of small, armless chairs. Rooms can fill up quickly. More rearranging if you want 2 chairs by the piano, and it is possible - no problem.

I agree that both rugs are too small.

Center the love seat on the fireplace. It is off kilter in that whole area because they are not centered on each other. Your clock will be nice behind the chair on the left of your pix.
Chairs should be equidistant from the fireplace - square things up with the fireplace, since it is the feature of that end of the space.

Hang the large painting that is over the chest now, over to above the fireplace. It is out of scale for the chest [too big].

Try the bookcase to the left of the fireplace. Move piano to bookcase spot.
