We have a deck that we are expanding and adding a large pergola to shade the area and hang lights/grow vines etc.. on. Our house has 9 foot ceilings in some areas and much higher ceilings in other areas, exposed beams in bedrooms with 15 to 20 foot ceilings in them and hallways and above staircases. The pergola is 20 feet wide and 12 feet in depth. We are deciding on pergola height and toying with 9 or 10 feet tall. What would you suggest? 9 or 10 feet tall?
