Painted brick update

I'd like to add a third color around the windows and I can't decide between a light blue/green or red. What do you think? Thanks!

Thanks....it took about 4 years to make a final decision on colors.

But....I don't want to threadjack, so I'd love to hear back from the OP!!!

Hey SweetT? Anything going on with your trim/windows? Have you been painting? :) Stay in touch. We love to watch a transformation. :)

Update: I'm still working on a few things as you can see from the blue painters tape but I thought I'd show you all my progress. Thanks again for all the support!

Fun! would you consider painting the brick sills under each window? that might add some pop to balance or the colors at the porch area. Add some dramatic plants and maybe a few more decorative items in the porch area and it will look really pulled together! I hope your neighborhood is appreciating your unique style :-)

Sweet Tea, Happy Holidays to you and yours!

And a virtual house warming gift just for you... :)

Oh Sweet Tea, you have to make a bird house like that. Ali, that is perfect!!!!

Your house is adorable! I had a blast reading this thread and loved hearing from Sweet Tea and all the posters who had such creative ideas to share.

Oh my...what's done is done. I say silver gray, and a darker gray. Otherwise...well, you can always sell fruit in the front yard

Love how your house is turning out! I was thinking maroon trim but the orange is great! I can't believe the rude comments here....

What a fun and happy place to call home!

Love it, love it, love it :)
I would never be brave enough to paint my house this colour!! I live in Canada and fear what it would look like covered in snow!! Hahaha!! I always dream of moving to the Caribbean and owning a beautiful, bright coloured home!!
Anyways, I agree with most of the people here: WHITE TRIM & TONE THE YELLOW DOOR DOWN A BIT. POSSIBLY A RED THROW RUG & DEFINITELY LANDSCAPING NEEDS WORK. YOU CAN ALWAYS THROW COLOUR IN BY ADDING BRIGHT PLANTS AND POTTERY/FURNITURE/PILLOWS/ETC.
    Good luck!!

Actually, I retract what I said about toning the door down. It looks good either way :)

    wow that looks great sweetcoffee!
Unfortunately, I've just come across this thread now.. but reading all the posts (even the negative ones which indicate posters' low mentality and upbringing) really has been worth it to see your amazing, colourful house.
The thing that strikes me most looking at your house, is that it is, firstly, a home, secondarily anything else. its clearly more than a house. its a home reflecting the warmth of the people who make it such. well done, congratulations

On the topic of areas with colouful homes, these are some in South Africa. The first two are in the Cape, and I don't know where the third is.

Sweet Tea, it is amazing how beautifully you have tied it all together. What a truly happy home. Thank you for sharing and keeping us updated on your wonderful progress. :)

I say break the mould! Some harsh comments on here. I agree with perhaps a softer yellow on the door. And I would love to see pictures when all is done :)

Lovely! Love the pink accent. Wouldn't I love to put a nice flower garden in front!

Love the way this is turning out, Sweet Tea. I grew up around a lot of similar houses in north Florida and they always looked so ... Unhappy. Yours is far from unhappy! Using wood framed screen windows to mask that aluminum is a great idea. It would be intriguing to do more with the posts -- Give them more substance or go for even more of a tropical impermanent look with painted tree posts instead of the current posts. Love the addition of the coral trim.

Last time I was in Austin, I drove by this place, quite on accident. My DD lives in the very same neighborhood! :) It was cool to see it in person, having seen it here once upon a time. It is very cute and very Austin. A lot of homes there, particularly in these older neighborhoods, with funky color combinations that make me smile.

I see this is an old post but I like the bold choices. As others have mentioned, it just looks happy and cheerful. Happy and cheerful should be okay in any neighborhood, regardless of geography.
