Those sound like good starts. If you're in Florida or someplace similar, you could probably consider going a bit braver with color choice as well -- candy colors?. And I guess you need to decide about the entrance -- do you need that ramp, and if so, could you find something to fit better in terms of either era (mid-century) or theme (say, nautical).

Beyond that, i guess I'd be tempted to put something to either side of the garage door, like flowering shrubs or nice planters -- at least on the left, where the window is higher than on the main house, and where it's part of your lead into the entry. Your circular driveway might serve to recenter the house on the middle windows/entry instead of the garage, in which case you might do flower beds in front of the windows to the left side of the house as well as under the windows by the garage.

Thank you acm, great suggestions! We just found out that we need a roof, so our options will be open but metal is too expensive so it will be flat tile but we are considering a flat tile that isn't stark white. We are also considering adding a gable in the front the width of the front porch...or a decorative wood gable in the front to add interest and stay in the beach realm since we are in South Florida.
