This is nice, but use just one with maybe more branches. It also could be a soft color tall vase.

I also thought of putting in shelves, since it actually is where we set keys and sunglass in our entry.

I just went to Houzz photos and searched "indoor wall niches" and lots of examples came up. You will find something there for sure. Good luck!

I say cover it completely, it will open the wall up to a larger piece of art and won't look so dated. Our builder tried to surprise us with one in our house and right before they dry walled it I asked them to cover it. It's there if anyone ever wants it back but I didn't want to date my brand new house with it.

I am really leaning toward covering it completely. I just keep thinking there is a less drastic option for the time being. I have searched niche too and found a few things I like. What do you all think of this?

If you don't have a place for keys etc then keep it.

How about a bottom dark wood shelf that matches wood in adjoining dining room, but that curves out a bit for room to put a bowl for keys etc. then a couple additional glass shelves above, or maybe mirror cut to fit in back.

I love those bowls over the toilet. I have seen that one before and I think it is an attractive alternative and super simple/easy!

So ironic. It’s 2018, and we are contemplating adding a niche for cute shelving. I thought it was a nice custom touch. My style may be out dated so I better reconsider! Glad I read this post. ☺️

I needed one to hide a post...We’ll see how it goes after we move in. I may need a large mirror or art to cover it.
