Unpainted Wood Trim

Our living room and dining room all have original dark wood trim that we love and want to keep! The wood floors are also a darker colour. I am clueless as to what colour to paint the walls? All the picture I see of similar rooms are a white or an off white colour. I really don't want that, but want to keep the rooms nice and light.

Look at sage green or muted yellow/gold such as Benjamin Moore dijon.

We have wood trim as well, but it's oak...lol...more 80s, but still gives the house a homey feel. We have a neutral colour that, depending on the light, looks like a sage green or a light beige. I love it. I didn't choose it, however, it was the previous owners, so I can't tell you a colour. :( I will say though that we have also used light blue in the dining room and it looks great...and just today painted an accent wall a green-blue called Juniper Berries by Behr. It looks STUNNING with the wood trim, imo.
