The left side overhang is bigger than the right, but that's due to the roofs joining. I would leave it as it is.

It looks fine, just add color to the front door.

The house is beautiful. Maybe a color at the front door, two tall potted plants at the posts. Maybe a nice rug too. I would add a bench to the right and two chairs to the left. I would not change the roof line. I think it's fine.

It looks a bit like a carport. Agree with flopsycat1 on the door. Maybe double up the columns. My picture also shows the gable painted the trim color, and some decoration to break up that bit of siding.

Grover- can you change the front door?

I think you need the larger entrance to emphasize it amidst all the busy details of this front. However, I would definitely paint the front door a more intresting color, and I'd consider replacing the windows the right with some that don't have all those crossbars, which make it look a little like a greenhouse. I sort of like ppf's suggestion for repainting the triangular part. What's that thing that looks like a big welcome mat out front??

It would be lovely to open the roof to the beams and get a chandelier to hang over the entry.

Thanks for the comments and photoshopping! That is incredibly helpful. We definitely want a new door, but hadn't thought about color - we were thinking a darker wood (with darker wood garage doors as well). Painting the gable darker is a great idea - it makes it recede nicely.

The area where the large windows are was apparently the original garage. We hope to harvest some stone from another exterior wall and use it to side this wall and put in smaller windows and some landscaping in front.

A wrought iron gated entry way would look marvelous and would provided extra security. I would remove the mixture of plants and get two huge pots with tailored shrubs in them. Also replacing the siding in the entry way with brick would also be very appealing, Lastly I would paint the entry way doors and the two pillars black.
