I like the orange chair and orange pillows on the couch. I would add a rug with a little bit of the orange in it. I think this would tie it together.

Nice orange chair. It is a good size and a nice shape. I also like the round coffee table that you are replacing. It is nice to have a round shape amongst all those rectangular pieces.

Was hoping for a very modern/contemporary look. Coffee table has to go and what other things to add to the room so the chair isn't by itself?

Given you wanted your room to be family friendly, I would stay away from a glass coffee table. Maybe consider an ottoman (either round or rectangle) to put your feet up on/add a tray when needed as a table. For the side table, I would recommend a mid-century look to work with your chair in perhaps a darker brown to compliment legs on couch and chair. Stacking tables are great for family usage as well. I like Maureen's idea of nesting side tables but, with the same idea, was going to suggest using two smaller cubes for coffee table, that could be pushed together if needed or used separately. cb2 has a cute orange chair they show with an orange ottoman and a cute red orange lamp that comes in a table or floor style. There are a lot of cute orange ikat type ottomans out there, I just didn't have time to find one for you, but that look could bring in your tan. Target's Threshold collection might be worth a peek, as well.

Here are some interesting pieces that may be available in orange. Perhaps the coffee, sofa or demi-lune could tuck in to your space.

I love the style and look of the orange chair BUT the scale is too small for those sofas. The sofas are visually heavy --I recommend fining a chair similar in style/color but larger. Maybe getting two chairs to balance out the weight of the two sofas. You've got great taste and are aaaaallllmost there!
