Diann, the tile you have pictured would be attractive in your kitchen, but you may wish to consider how the tumbled stone will hold up behind your range. A tile with a washable glaze might be a more practical choice. I love the herringbone pattern in this inspiration photo.

Hey Michigammemom I see what your suggesting showed your suggestion to husband and since I cook a lot with flying Italian sauce lol! Your so right something with a more cleanable surface would be the smart thing to do. Thanks so much , Keep em coming I am up to any suggestions .

for drama go with a glazed tile in a tone similar to your island. use the planned bronze rope molding as accent. It will be a show stopper! I would also remove the granite splash as that extra line will complicate your tile pattern & make the splash too busy. That way your awesome hood & lovely cabinets will be highlighted by the drama of your accent tile. If you wish to go safer, pick a tone out of granite (lighter/warm tone) glazed as suggested. Thanks everyone for your suggestions . The granite is a beautiful piece of art for sure amazes me how ugly granite is until they clean it up. I know my hubby wont have the granite back splash removed . Our friends up the street who build have no back splash and he thinks it looks unfinished they have a tumbled marble going on in their kitchen but no rope molding which in my mind would have looked much nicer .
We do have Italian accents in the kitchen with our last name you would know why then haha. So its a Italian kitchen for sure .
I like the idea of warmer tones as back splash more of a solid look right? the granite has so much going on so want to tone it done so its not over stated.
