I could not live with that.....I'd get rid of it.

I plan to paint the cabinets a cream or white color and have upgraded the appliances to stainless steel. The wallboard is in great condition, but only after cleaning the layers of grime that accumulated from the last owner (he had weird taste, the master bedroom was painted 100% bubblegum pink)

If you don't love it, I would get rid of it.

I would peel that off faster than you could say avocado green;) BUT if you keep it paint the cupboards bright orange and put in some brick patterned linoleum. Add a Felix the cat clock and you will have the kitchen I grew up in, lol .

It's time to get rid of the wallboard. A fresh coat of paint will work wonders in making the space less cluttered. I have a couple of ideas for you. In keeping with the navy theme ---

1. Paint the walls in Van Deusen Blue by Benjamin Moore. Paint the blue on the cupboards in the same color (or paint cupboards white). Change the hardware with a simple brushed nickel handle and knob. Reference 1st pic.

2. Paint the walls a fresh white. Paint the cupboards dark navy (Van Deusen would work).
Replace hardware with brushed nickel handles. Ref. 2nd pic.

I also included some really cute artwork that would look great on your walls and an example of simple nickel handle.

I think it's adorable. However, I don't know if I could keep it. I agree with Genevieve, if you want a retro look and it is in good condition and if you like it, then keep it.

If you don't want retro, go ahead and get rid of it. You could save a piece (if that's even doable) and mat and frame it.

Well, I think it is wonderful, but you have to live with it and love it. There's a huge market in vintage wallpaper and even more in new wallpaper trying to look vintage (have a look at these two sites for starters: http://www.rosiesvintagewallpaper.com/kitchen/ and http://www.spoonflower.com/fabric/1137309). And I think it can be easily mixed with a modern kitchen, you don't have to go totally retro. I think it would work on the wall in any of these:




Anyway, I don't know about the other two walls in your kitchen, but maybe just have it on the window wall (a built in feature wall!) with your fab pans (take Van Gogh away though) and see how you go. You could even get a tablecloth or tea towels in one of the "new" retro patterns to mix it all up a bit. Good luck!

You could do as suggest it , me I would leave the wallpaper for a bit longer do all the painting that need to be done then decide if you want to paint over it or replace it with a new one , I like the retro look ,we had a Five and Dime Cafe over here years ago they had Juke box at every table if you are old enough to remember these then you probably like the retro look as well . And yes you could frame a piece of it if you like :)

I love it and would add other retro things. pick a color from it for accents - blue does not work.
