It gets worse before it gets better!!

Take lots of photos along the way. Did someone paint that window glass??? (is that a window above the tub??)

Oh yeah....some owners just can't leave things alone. Takes time to slowly get things back to how & where they should be! **sigh**

My PO painted everything in cheap, flat beige. Even the tub walls that were plaster, scored to look like subway. I'd read just enough to be dangerous. Thought I had subway under there & began scraping the paint with a heat gun & scraper....then I saw plaster!
Lordy, what a mess. Finally retiled entire room with real subway.

You could replace that glass with frosted or patterned glass, or a stained or leaded glass piece and no one would know what was back there. Nor would they care.

going through much of the same here...the box shap you see at the bottom left was built by previous owners to make head clearance to access the cellar on the other side of the wall. I had to completely move the cellar staircase back 3.5 feet to close this hole. The musty cellar smell in the bathroom was a no-no.
