Am I worried for no reason? Matching stain on dining table & chairs

Hi:

I was just told that the dining table that I ordered in July is available for delivery but the chairs are on the slow boat from the Philippines.:) I had previous been told that the table and chairs had to be sprayed at the same time in order to match. Now I am told that they will match even though they aren't sprayed together. Does anyone have experience with this? Am I worrying for no reason?

It is always preferable for color to be done together and from the same batch, but it is not always necessary. It all depends on the company. If they are reputable and stand behind their product then I would relax and trust their best judgement.

Thanks for your response. The table is from Hickory Chair. I guess I am a little more nervousness because I already had a bad experience with them earlier this year. After searching and searching for another dining room table, I just bit the bullet and bought from them again. I just couldn't find one I loved as much as their table!

Most times companies will come around. I guess right now just enjoy your table until the chairs come. No use in worrying if it's not there yet. Deal with the problem when and IF it arrises.

Out of curiosity, what is the average cost of a Hickory Chair table? A range is fine. (I know a lot varies on what you choose...looking particularly for a rectangle top with pedestals.)

HARUMPH. First, I wouldn't match the chairs to the table, but that is me, I like some upholstery around the table , different from the table, even a different leg.. Second,.......lets just say Hickory Chair is NOT at all what it used to be, ( quality) and stain is the least of it. If you consult their wood finishes, it will say right below the color ""representative, not guaranteed to an exact match" uh.......no KIDDING. : (

Now consider the inflated pricing for what you are getting and it is what it is. ...............another classic example of paying more to get less. It is happening throughout the industry, with few exceptions, sad to say. Hickory Chair cost me a bit of a small fortune this year, having had to refinish to suit disappointed clients on a total of four side tables at already exorbitant WHOLESALE pricing.

I am the OP. To answer your question, this table was the Gustav table with a figure 8 apron. It's sold in two pieces base and top. The table was in the $4000-$6000 range and the Louis XVI chairs were $900-$1000 each.

Important to add, this table was a COMPLETE disaster. There was only 2-3 inches between the bottom of the apron and top of the chair. Meaning that the table rested on your thighs when you tried to scoot in. Btw, this table was ordered by a "professional" at the same time as the chairs-- both from Hickory Chair. There were other issues too. I'll spare you the details.

Positive news, I bought an amazing double pedestal table from an estate sale for $250 and put some fabulous fretwork chairs with it. Looks like a million bucks!
