On my November to do list are the following things: 1) Figure out how to get the Buffet and Dining Table that belonged to my great-aunt from Hector, NY, to Reston, VA. 2) make sure the space is clear and ready when they are brought in so they can immediately be used. 3) clear the space and the path from the front door so the Zanotti Safe I ordered can be delivered and set up. I just received a call that it will be shipped sometime in December. http://www.zanottiarmor.com/ 4) try to get an electrician in to move the electrical outlet from behind where the safe will be to an accessible location before the safe is installed.

well I made a list, but now I'm on the 3rd page and don't know where to start lol.
Did some shopping last week, and today, and also ordered more gifts on the internet.
My biggest time consumer is doing this darn quilt for a friends 70th. I keep having to pull bits out as its one of those' if anything can go wrong' well it has with this. Its 4 months over due now folks, so I need to get it done soon. I can then get myself cracking on other things.
Luckily we don't have Thanksgiving or I might just throw the towel in and head off into the blue yonder.
Have a good thanksgiving folks for I'm sure you have all worked incredibly hard.

Completing tasks in which the ideas came from or was spoken about on houzz. One is black ceiling, that coincides with what to do with the space when the children leave the nest. I have taken small bedroom painted ceiling and doors black, the room will be my sanctuary to go sit and let my mind wander, read, listen to music or sip a glass of wine or all the above-(lol). All that is left to do is to hang curtains, lighting and items on wall. I am still in awe with that black ceiling- so beautiful...Thanks houzz for the idea.

I've installed insulation on all three garage walls, but still have to do the steep, sloped roof! I've planted 7 dozen bulbs, cleared out several garden/flower beds, and still have MORE leaves--from neighbors' trees--to gather and mulch in the yard. The grass is fed, the siding washed, and the winter drapes, throws, comforters, and so on, are in place, making it feel cozy when it's cold outside. Now I need to start holiday cookie and bread making! And dig out Xmas decorations!
Have the new pendant lights for the kitchen installed.
Cross off addition Christmas gifts they I have founded and purchase. Review my Christmas decoration plan for preparation of one of the best holidays for my family.

Buy more recyclable bags for leaves, clean a space for houseplants, bring potted plants inside, plant in a pot the sweet potato that grew, plant Coleus seeds, work on organizing and cleaning the house. Eventually, I want to plant a pot that has sweet potato vines hanging from it and Coleus growing straight up the center.

I need to finish hanging purple lights again this year on the big tree in my front yard in memory of my brother Ron Foley who died of pancreatic cancer. November is pancreatic cancer month and we believe in the power of purple.
Macgrill, I didn't know about it being pancreatic cancer month and the color being purple. I know two people that died from pancreatic cancer.

Macgrill, sorry to hear about your brother.

Considering installing a gas insert in our currently unusable fireplace in the basement.
Trying to figure out if it's economical or not and if it will actually entice me to go down to the basement during the winter!

Shortly after I finished my September home office declutter, entropy appeared in the form of a leaky skylight directly above that area.. Presently covered c tarp and sandbags. Skylight to be replaced by better and larger one once received by contractor who will do the exterior part. We'll do the drywall/interior part. Then comes Xmas lights and decorations!

Started today to decorate outside before the cold hits next week. Just heard 3 inches of snow possibly beginning of next week. Then will start putting up trees inside, hopefully to finish by thanksgiving in case my children get to come home. They can only come for one holiday, so we celebrate both together.

Finish unpacking (moved into new house two weeks ago). Hang all the art. Figure out where the Christmas tree will go. Fill up all the closets as soon as hubby gets the shelves installed. Get something, anything, up over the windows. Breathe deeply.

The windows are washed and DH has the yard raked for about the 12th time, the gardens are cleaned and over 300 tulip bulbs and some hyacinth bulbs are planted. All the hardscape is in and protected, as are the potted plants I am overwintering. Now, I just need to cover the roses, mums and hydrangea for the hard winter ahead. It's a good thing, cuz we are suppose to get our first snow early - on Mon. Whoops! I best get some firewood this weekend. Jean, you must be the upper Midwest too. I too want to get some of my outdoor lights up this weekend or it may be too late.

Make sure I have enough checks for the Gifts. Yes, we are old and shop for only one gift each for the daughters and grands. So I am ignoring Christmas for now, since I have already made reservations for several of my groups.

In the meantime, we will make plans to host our small family for Thanksgiving. The house is ready, since I still entertain some every month and keep it pretty much cleaned and in order. I do plan to clean the fridge good tho and steam the packed carpet where I moved furniture in the study. I plan to do some more closet purging. I still need to place some on line orders for some accent tables and table lamps for the living room I am nearing completion. I may paint an accent wall in the study - I know they are of style, but it is my house. I have begun putting out the winter linens and we are already enjoying the cozy throws.

Besides the holidays, I have our maintenance guy coming to clean gutters and the contractor to measure for additional bookshelves and our geek to work on the computers. I am also trying to decide whether I want a recliner or a love seat in the study, new/reupholstered furniture in the conservatory, kitchen and family room. I selected the curtain fabric and must get those made am trying to select an area rug, seating and maybe a table and shelves with casters for use beside my computer. Until I can get all our workers going, I am cleaning out files and shelves, so I know what additional space I might need.

Oh yes, I used to do an enormous amount of decorating, so I started putting out a lot less last year. So this year I want to be very thoughtful about which I put out, so I can rotate my favs and photograph those each year, put them in an album on the coffee table during the holiday, so we can look at them, enjoy and remember.

Sorry about the length of this. I tried to get it all down together to keep me on target.
Happy holidays to all of you. jan

Hubby got shelves done in three closets, so I loaded them up. Number of boxes still to be unpacked down to single digits. Hosting T-day dinner, which will spur us to hang all the art. Refuse to get sucked into Christmas decorating until after thanksgiving...who put all these holidays so darn close together?!?
