The deck railing is not up to code. I would suggest you go with vertical wood railing posts @ 48" o.c. and horizontal stainless steel cables spaced no more than 4" o.c. Top railing should be wood at 42" above finish floor.

It's not really a flat roof but more of a shallow pitch roof. I see nothing wrong with it at it is consistant with this style.

I don't see the red dot and can't really make out the brick.

This is a very cool looking house. Great architectural character which needs some freshening up. It has really great horzontal lines.

Your absolutely correct, the deck is not up to code. Thanks for the suggestions, the house has an excellent view of the city it just needs painting and some TLC. We haven"t even moved in yet.

Love this house! After the painting and fixing the railing, some landscaping with native plant material will help. Good luck with your new home!

I'd paint the brick a lighter neutral color, maybe even gray the rest a complimenting color and trim it out with another and keep the roof.

It is hard to determine where the front door is. Now I see the red dot! Is the carport to the left or to the right? Is there a concrete block wall?

Here is a cool looking exterior with ideas for your home: I like the white facia rather than the brown I think your house has. The concrete wallway surroounded by round stones and the plant material all look appropriate. If that is a concrete wall, maybey you could replace it with a fence as in photo.

If you do convert the carport to a garage, this would be a nice door treatment: I also like the wood privacy screens and the railings. Although I like the wood and steel cable as suggested earlier. It would also be good if you could reduce the amount of driveway.
