If it looks great with the house and interior/style, go for it!

Go with what you like. Does this fit your budget?

I go back and forth btw shiny brass and other materials myself.

Good luck!

More of an antique brass finish is what is making a comeback (unless it's a more vintage or eclectic look and then I've seen shiny brass used in interesting ways usually as plumbing fixtures). If I were doing all my knobs and hinges I would do black but that's a personal preference - maybe an alternative to consider. I think most people would consider shiny brass to look dated unless it was vintage.

This is a new house my husband and I are building and will have a 1920's feel. Even the foyer is black and white marble. All the other floors are red oak. The interior door knobs will actually be glass with a brass backing w/rope edge and the french doors going out to the back porch are beautiful levers w/rope edge. When I looked at the other finishes, they looked dull and lifeless. The glass knobs really show their true beauty with the brass plates. Call me old fashioned I guess, but a plain Jane I am not. The picture you see by my name is a picture of our view. Thank you all. I feel better about my decision now.
