I can't get a good overview of the room from what you've posted. But if the first pic is the living room and the second pic is further down and the dining room area, can you switch the two areas and have a couch or small sectional with the extended sectional part against the wall facing where the dining room cabinet is in this picture and the dining room where the living room furniture is?

@Karielen the first pic is the living room right off the entrance. Isn't it odd to walk into a dining room as you enter a house? I could not find pics with dining rooms right off the entrance for inspiration

The reason I thought of it was because with both rooms combined into one open room it creates more of a great room. I thought with the dining table in the front it might give you more flexibility, of course depending on what furniture you have and what works best for functionality. Here's an example of a switched layout, with the dining area in front and the living area toward the back:

strange that you would post pictures about furniture arrangement when its not yours in the photo????. .......... if you have a web cam, lap top , tablet or phone you should be able to take current photos. but either way the best solution is to flip the spaces.
