In the process of having built ins added around fireplace - the built ins will have an additional piece of trim at the top and the trim on the walls will carry all the way across the builtin/fireplace wall. currently the builtins are primed and i need to finalize color. i was going to have them painted white but my trim is actually an off white color - when i went to match it at sherwin williams it actually belongs to a somewhat gold color strip (eggwhite by sherwin williams is closest match). the trim color is throughout the entire house including the doors so changing that is not an option right now. i painted the fireplace what i thought was the trim color but it came out more white than the trim (maybe because of the brick?). when i put a piece of trim up to the fireplace it looks very creamy yellow. the walls are edgecomb gray by benjamin moore and the ceiling is a flat white. sooo..do i paint the built ins and fireplace to match the trim (which seems too yellow to me on such a large area), or paint them white with the eggwhite trim along the top or paint them white and the trim along this wall only white. or go with a different color altogether for the builtins?? im not really interested in doing any sort of wallpaper on the back of them - too busy for me. i also dont want to have to repaint them anytime soon so i dont want to go with a crazy color that i will get sick of or will look dated. the room is smaller (16'x12') so i want to make it larger and brighter. piece of wood against built in is trim color. thanks!!
