How does this work for a wood burning fireplace? Motor speeds?

    Unless you have a Monessen/Majestic compatible wood stove, you would need to have a custom mounting bracket fabricated for this to be installed with your current stove. Or some other way of attaching it.
    The rheostat lets you gradually change the blower from lower to higher blowing settings, without having a set 1-2-3 option. They are very quiet and can be set to turn on and off by themselves, depending on the temperature settings you have set with the thermostat attached to your wood stove. They are definitely useful to increase heating ability.
