Paint color will change according to your lighting, and other colors in the room. Pick out 2-3 colors and TRY them in the room.

I just painted a bedroom in a wonderful taupe gray color. It's SW 7044 Amazing Gray. It doesn't have any gray or blue in it. The room has a very small window so it has very little light. It may look different in your room because of all the natural light.

I meant to say it didn't have any green in it. It's more of a brown gray.

I'm in the process of doing my house Benjamin Revere Pewter. I've only done 1 wall so far and the others will be done in the next couple weeks. It does show a greenish hue in 1 section but otherwise seems perfect. I bought over 13 samples

Would a beige work? I'm trying shaker beige now. Revere pewter did not look good in my lighting and other grays looked blue. Shaker beige is a pretty tan.

@jill - Wow...13 samples! What other colors did you try? I heard people say the revere pewter can have a pinkish tint to it so I haven't considered it.

@leanemil - I have Shaker Beige in my basement...never thought to considered it for my bedroom. I will have to give it a lookover..

When deciding on paint colors for our new house I bought 12" square foam core boards sold by Benjamin Moore and small cans of the colors. Two coats using a small roller and you are able to see enough of the color without ever having to mess up the existing walls. Most important, you can move around the room with it to see how the lighting changes the color. Also invaluable when shopping for decor. Good luck!

@juudean - thanks for the tips. I think that is where I went wrong. I painted my samples on the existing wall closest to the window and didn't have a white border around them. The color I wound up choosing looks much different in all the other parts of the room because of the lighting. And the color doesn't look green when next to the old color (which was a true green) but when on its own it does. Too bad I didn't realize this before painting the entire room. :/

I only painted one coat with the new color. I wonder if painting a 2nd coat would change it?

Nothing yet! I still have the BM Waynesboro Taupe on the walls which is too green. I haven't bought any new samples yet. I still have to convince my husband that we "need" to repaint (we just painted the Waynesboro Taupe color a few weeks ago). I need to choose my new samples wisely.

This is my current color - BM Waynesboro Taupe. We just painted it a few weeks ago and it's too green for me. I was going for a gray/taupe color.

BM Eagle Rock is a brownish gray, but pretty dark. On one of my walls it has a purple hue though.

I usually end up mixing my own color up with all the samples I keep buying that don't work until I get the perfect color that looks good in the daytime or evening and does not turn green at night. Gray is crazy hard.

London fog is nice, however it is pretty light. Maybe have them mix it darker?

Don't know what you went with but check out BM Kangaroo.

I would suggest you look at BM Edgecomb Grey. We used it extensively in our home and love it. It’s a warm beigey grey. Our bedroom is BM Pale Oak, which is slightly greyer but still light and lovely. I always do 2 coats on a large piece of drywall and move it around before deciding on my paint colour.

BM smoke embers. I also dislike greenish undertones. I think I tried 8 samples before settling on smoke embers.

BM Edgecomb Gray is a greig. It’s light with no green, blue or pink undertones.
