get a more bold area rug for the space, and then pull a color from that. I can see soft blue in here for sure, work well with the golden tones. and the painting on the wall. i would also consider changing the sofa table to a longer one with les curves. .. would you paint the entertainment unit?

I also think blues would look nice with your drapes and sofa. Are you intending on keeping the more formal look to the room?

Thanks for your great ideas. Blues tend to be the most obvious choice however Im not bold enough to paint with it. I tend to feel more comfortable with warmer more natural earth tone colors. Im leaning towards a more grayish feel. Yes, a less formal look. Yes to possibly painting the wall unit. I like the sitting room photo. more of that grey tone in the floor with beiges, golds neutrals. just got a sample of BM Classic grey paint to try on walls. Thanks again, I love this site and seeing things through others eyes

If you want a warm gray go for one that has brown undertones. There are many choices and I think the right gray will enhance your room. Consider removing the sofa table altogether. No replacement. Also think about fewer items on the entertainment unit. A few large things with nothing smaller than a cantaloupe . Remove smaller items for a more spacious look.

You are correct about the grey blue and greige. Ive been through enough samples to know. My change will be getting rid of the faux painted golden walls, rug, chairs, tables, accessories etc and replacing with new to change room. Really appreciate your input, thanks!

If you like more earthy colors as I do, grayish and olive greens are very soothing in a room.

To post pictures from your ideabook, just open the picture, and copy and paste it. Sherwin Williams has a tab that will copy a color to your ideabook.

Earlier in today's "feed" a poster painted a large unit like yours. Might find it - Marcy C - Help!! Living room dilemma.

Is it possible to take some photos after temporarily moving out the chairs and other furniture you will be replacing? Also the decorative items such as pitchers and pictures.

Here's what Wendy C did with her piece. Annie Sloan Paloma chalk paint I believe.

How about devoiding the kitchen of all the faux greenery and adding some rope lights to the top of the cabinets in the kitchen for some ambience;)
Does that top come off the entertainment unit, or is it one piece?

best thing I did for my redo was paint the media center. Address your largest pieces first, then decide on wall color. I've since replaced the coffee table.

Maybe you can avoid painting the media center if you make other changes suggested above.
The question is do you like the unit .If not, then sell it.Better than paint it.

Wow! thanks everyone, Painter coming monday so I have to commit to my color . So far its between Ben Moore Classic Grey OC-23 or Ben Moore Grey Owl Oc -52. Grey owl tends to go more blue. in my home. I will also try to remove pieces of furniture and give you all a better blank canvas to see. Also, will post color samples too.

I think you should really rethink keeping your current drapes. I would go with something like these with white blinds;)
