The island countertop wood species is Black Walnut with our waterproof custom Waterlox blend finish. It has our Distressed finishing that we do by hand (the marks in the surface are all because of our Distressing). I've attached a close up photo of our Black Walnut vs. Distressed Black Walnut for side by side comparison. They are the same species.

Black Walnut is our most popular species and the Distressing is our most popular option.

You can also get a $2 sample! I highly recommend a sample so you can see just how waterproof and food stain resistant it is. It's one of those things you have to see to believe since there are so so many myths out there about wood being high maintenance. Just like granite, wood is only as good as the finish that is used.

I also attached one more inspiration photo for you that is a Craft Art Distressed Black Walnut island countertop. The fabulous design was by Karr Bick.
