Ranch exterior update

We just purchased this little 80's ranch in Florida and although the interior was totally remodeled, the exterior leaves a ton to be desired! We are going to remove/redo the landscaping as it blocks the entry, but other than that we are confused. We are thinking of removing the rock around the garage and replacing it with a stacked rock, and removing the other rock accents completely. We also think black shutters would look nice. Entry is in great shape, just very, very plain. This is stucco over frame.

Yes, you should be pulling out everything planted in front of your door this very weekend! Plant your taller (trees) things off to the corner (s) of the house and plant progressively lower toward your door. Choose a fun, bold color for the front door.

As for the stonework--I have no ideas. You are going to be bombarded with suggestions so just hang on!!
